Peru Trip Day 2- The Road to Trujillo

This morning we are leaving our hotel and the airport , but I'd like to stay with in sight of the ocean, at least that way I kind of Know were I am
Just kidding sis…
Our destination is Trujillo its like 8 hours away, or 340 some miles, anyway I figure we can get there before dark as long as I can figure out how to navigate the freeways!

We had to get off the freeway cause.........
I couldn't figure out what lane to be in and we went around in circles for awhile .  We stopped so I could read the map with out the help of my navigator(naggagator) wife and thought this was a neat decoration for a Kindergarten.

So as much as there was to look at along the way, I found plenty of spots when there was nothing to look at soooo glad for the iPod.  We also started to play name that trash.

So I'm  posting this picture mostly because of the dogs…. I have never seen so many  free roaming dogs in my life.

.So about a quarter of the way, This is called the Castillo De Chancay, I thought it was really neat that it was carved in the side of the mountain. Chas thought it was cool that it had a pool.
We got to walk all through the place but the best  pictures are from the outside, you can get a real sense of its magnitude.
We also got to visit the museum, though Chas thought it was pretty gross.
Dedicated employees..

This is my favorite picture, we walked all the way down the beach till we were far enough tp get the whole thing in focus.. its farther than you think!

OK back on the road!  I really hate driving away from the coast, its so much prettier, but it pretty cool how diverse the landscape is in such a short distance.

OK so this is about 1/2 way, and this place was cool. We spent way too much time here but it was such a large area ever time we started to leave we saw something new.  Its a region called Ancash.  Its got huge mountains, a lake, a few small villages, old churches and historic buildings, and all kinds of trails to go explore ( though I started up one, and Chas realized what was going on and we didn't get to far).

Notice the plants?  cool huh?? huh?
I know, I knowI'm a science dork.
The Puya raimondii, a gigantic inflorescence, unique to Peru and Bolivia.
Gettin Grub.......
SO COOL!

The trip was supposed to take 8 hours but it took us a little more than ten cause Chas had to keep using the bathroom, oh ya and we got hungry, and did some site seeing along the way… I only got a few pics cause we got here late but this is our hotel , its right in the middle of the town square, and then I go this last one on our walk to go find dinner and drinks.  The nights here are so nice, to bad I'm exhausted, maybe I'll just sleep all day tomorrow and start tomorrows report at night. Just an idea!
Goodnight

Peru Trip Blog...

At the airport, I slept most of the trip but I am still sooo tired.  My wife is actually sleeping on my shoulder right now!  We are waiting for our baggage to show up, it sure hope its not lost , that would be bad! The weather is nice right now, it’s the middle of the night but still 60 degrees! This is possible the biggest airport I have ever seen, let alone been to!  To be honesty I'm a little scared.  OH, I think I see our bags…..

Aeropuerto Internacional Jorge Chávez

Here is our hotel, its so nice I almost want to stay here!

My own bed? I must be on Vacation!

So today we are pretty much driving around pretending to not be lost, I am sticking by the coast line so I'm sure we will make it back to the hotel by dark…...

After lunch we continued on down the coast just to check out the sites,

Pretty cool… the Virgen del Carmen, maybe we can come back in July when theyhave the big  party to celebrate this "la Reina de los Mares", its apparently just as big of a party as the fourth of July back home only you get to eat seafood instead of burgers! Sounds good to me!
We  were getting hungry so……...of course im always hungry….
Our first day out= we head south along the coast line to find: Alfredo's we were told it was great so I looked it up on trip advisor and found it http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g294316-d775152-Reviews-Alfresco-Lima.html

Chastity's Lunch!
Chastity orders the shrimp an crayfish….and then lets me eat the crayfish cause they had eyes on them.  We got everything that was recommended, good thing I was hungry

The tuna Ceviche

After lunch we continued on down the coast just to check out the sites,

The coast is so nice, I could spend the whole trip driving up and down it and never take it all in

Of course we took a few short cuts through town a few times to go check out the churches.  The religion here in Peru is very important the have so much more detail and passion put into these old churches than we do. It was nice

End of the day….and yes I found the way back to the hotel before dark….almost, time for a few drinks and lots of rest!!
